My Wedding Day - Another Journey of Mine

2 May 2009

Finally... the day came at last! I woke up so early, actually I woke up few times that night.. I was nervous, excited, scared, happy.. a lil bit sad.. all rolled into 1. I wondered how it was gonna be after that day.. would I be happy? Would I be able to be a good wife.. I just hoped everything would be ok, & this marriage will last till the end of time.. Amin.

Hantaran form my side to Hafiz.. 9 dulang hantaran.

Our bilik pengantin.. the wall decor was done by me :)
The flower arrangement was ordered from my make-up artist, Heintje.

The Solemnization ceremony was held at 9.30 am in Surau An-Naim, Pangsapuri Fiona, Taman Samudra, Batu Caves.

1 happy bride..

My bffs, Lili & Bib..

Hafiz during the Akad Nikah. Alhamdulliah.. we were legally married after 2 times of lafaz nikah. Maybe Hafiz was nervous, that's why his 1st lafaz was wrong.

7 dulang hantaran from the groom to the bride..

Make-up by Heintje Nazarudin, owner of Heintje Couture. He's also 1 of the popular make-up artist in Malaysia and the founder of Heintje Dancers, a dance group which was familiar with HMI & Citrawarna Malaysia. The best thing was, he's my mother's good friend since they were both young..

The 3-tier wedding cake was ordered from Kedai Kek Hidayah, Taman Samudra, Bt Caves. So far it was the cheapest in town.. I only paid RM170.00 for the cake.. cool rite..

The reception was held at my mom's apartment, Fiona Apartment Taman Samudra on the same day.

The hand bouquet was also ordered from Heintje, RM85.00..

The dais (pelamin) back drop n flowers were from Erin & Erina Sequins.

The Goodie Bags for relatives & close friends

Bunga telur or bunga pahar, to be given to relatives or friends who performed adat merenjis to bless the bride & groom..

The outdoor photo session was done after the reception at Taman Metropolitan, Kepong.
We hired my friend, Sham from Sharm Captured for the whole day event on 2nd May 2009.

It was such a memorable day.. a day when I became a wife, a lawfully wedded wife to the man that I love so much.. I'm now officially Mrs Hafiz Nazime!

My Wedding - The Preparation Part 2

This was the wall decoration for the bilik pengantin, done by none other than me! I didn't want to use the normal backdrop style, I wanted it to be different. 1st I was thinking about hanging a big mirror on the wall.. but then someone said it would reflect the camera's flash light in the photos so I just have to use my plan B, which was not created yet at that moment. I went to a shop and saw the flowers.. n voila..

For the goodie bags for VVIP (read it as friends & relatives.. but the VVIP sounds cooler) I decided to give the cupcakes + sweets + bunga telur. Too bad that I've forgotten to take photo of the goodie bags..

The night before the wedding, I was still doing the final touch to my wedding dress.. while watching OIAM.. lol.. Tomok won..

My bffs, Lily n Bib were helping me doing the last minute work.. man.. we were both exhausted..
I really do appreciate their help.. I know I would not be able to go through the hectic moments without them.. I owed the so much! muah.. muah..

My Wedding - The Preparation Part 1

Starting from Dec 2008, I was really busy with the preparation. I've lost some weight due to lack of sleep, lots of work and of course, the stress. Trust me, the stress level was really, really high until at one point I cried because I felt so tired & helpless.

We've decided to buy our own things for hantaran, then swapped them before the wedding. We both thought that was practical as we only have to spend for what we want only.

For our bersanding reception, we picked dark peach/ brownish peach for our wedding costume. I bought this lace from First Impression boutique at jln TAR. I didn't want to rent the wedding dress as I was afraid that the rented dress would do no justice to me. I'm petite & curvy, therefore it was really hard to find something that would really fit me perfectly. Thank god my mom is a tailor, so I left the wedding dress part to her :)

This is the wedding ring for Hafiz, white gold 750 or some said suasa putih.. we call it the wedding ring. We bought it from Habib Jewel with 50% discount.. yeah.. you read it right.. 50% discount!. Simple yet masculine.

The door gift for our guests, we put candy in it. We bought this cute lil candy box from Ayer Hitam, Johor. We also bought our ready made bunga telur & most of our hantaran decorations from there. It was cheap, well.. minus the toll & petrol.. We were visiting my dad in Kluang, Johor in December, so we dropped by at Ayer Hitam on our back to KL.

The photo shoot for our wedding invitation card.
We just went to the nearest photoshop & took few photos. The baju melayu was actually belongs to Hafiz brother in-law, he borrowed it for the photo shoot. My lace kebaya was from my mom's collection, and make-up was done by me. Hmmm... so now u guys know why i looked like 'amoi' in the photos.. the make-up was done by an amatur... ;-p

My wedding invitation card, ordered it from a website; http://www.kadlawo.com . RM0.90 per piece.
The proposed for canopy for pengantin. Since my mom's place is a 3rd floor apartment, is was so not practical to have the bersanding session upstair. So, I've decided to put the pelamin under the canopy. The final lay out was different though, but we still 'bersanding' under the canopy.

Next.. the henna part. No malay brides would get married without 'berinai'. so, I just tried to be a little creative by trying to do the henna myself.. the result, I straight away called Devi's Bridal in Taman Samudra to fix an appointment with her. Well.. my design was ok I guess.. for a standard 6 girl maybe!

My Wedding - Legal Procedures

So, the date chosen was 2nd May 2009. All the preparation was done by me, Hafiz, my family & my friends. We started the preparation in Dec 2008. I browsed the JAIS website to get all the info. Hey.. I got more than just information… I can download the forms & the procedures.. hehe…

here's the 'Senarai Semak & Prosedur Permohonan Nikah Bagi Perempuan'

The guy has to submit his application to his PAID, and after he got the approval he has to pass his approved application to the bride-to-be. Then the bride-to be has to submit her application together with the groom’s approved application. Once everything is completed, PAID will granted the approval for Akad Nikah. This approval is only valid for 3 months from the date of approval granted by the PAID.

THE ENGAGEMENT

He proposed not long after we were together, I said ok, but I requested to wait until we were both ready, mentally & financially. Then after our 1st anniversary as a couple, we decided to take the relationship to another phase. On 11th Oct 2008, he sent his family to my house for the ‘meminang’ ceremony. His family brought 5 ‘dulang hantaran’ & my side return 5 ‘dulang hantaran’ as well.

My engagement ring was a simple ‘belah rotan’ ring, made of 916 gold. I chose the ring myself, we bought it at Poh Kong in JJ Wangsa Maju.

IT HAS BEEN YEARS

Hmm.. I must have been so busy that I didn't even have time to write in my blog. I've even forgotten my password.

Life has been treating me well this past 2 years. Well, of course there were ups & downs every now & then.. but I was ok. I'm grateful for everything..

Hey.. forgot to inform.. I'm married now, to this tall, dark, handsome guy that I met at work.
I met him at work.. ohw.. I've told that just now. But it wasn't a classic love at a first sight thingy.. we've bumped into each other, say hi & bye few times after we first met. But on 1 Friday evening, 21st September 2007, things changed.
He came to collect his medical card from me.. then he asked me out. And then... the rest is history...
